M.A.G.I.Con 2018

Mischievous Appreciation of Greylock & Ilvermorny Convention

MAGICON 2018 Adams Massachusetts

Gather with your fellow witches, wizards and no-maj friends for two magical days in the beautiful Greylock Glen at the foot of Mount Greylock and the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. M.A.G.I.Con 2018 will be bigger and better with two days of activities, more music, more vendors and more free activities.

In 2016, J.K.Rowling released a new story, "Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry" on the summit of Mount Greylock in Adams, Massachusetts. Realizing that the American version of Hogwarts was located in Adams, a group of volunteers from ProAdams created and held the first M.A.G.I.Con at Greylock Glen at the foot of the mountain in 2017. It was a big hit and the plans for 2018 will build on that success. All proceeds from this event will benefit ProAdams in support of its mission to create cultural and economic vibrancy in Adams, Massachusetts.

The event venue is the beautiful Greylock Glen. It is adjacent to the 12,000 acres of wilderness of Mount Greylock State Reservation. It is as close to the site of Ilvermorny where we are allowed to hold the event. Parking is extremely limited at the venue. You are strongly encouraged to take the free shuttles running from Adams Station at 4 Hoosac St. Adams, MA 01220. Feel free to bring lawn chairs or blankets, very limited seating will be provided. Leashed pets are allowed at the event, however they are not allowed on the shuttles. CLICK HERE FOR SHUTTLE INFORMATION.

Advance sale tickets are $20 for each of the two days, or $35 for both days. Tickets purchased at the gate will be $25 for each day, or $45 for both days. Kids of age 12 and under are free, thanks to the generous support of our lead sponsor, Greylock Federal Credit Union. CLICK HERE FOR TICKET SALES AND INFORMATION.

 The Music

  • Harry & the Potters

    Harry & the Potters

What would happen if Harry Potter quit the quidditch team, stole a time turner, and started a punk rock band with himself from an earlier point in the space-time continuum? The answer is Harry and the Potters. Since 2002, brothers Paul and Joe DeGeorge (Harry Potter, Year 7 and Year 4 respectively) have released 3 full length albums and played over 800 shows all over the world. Their high-energy live show has been legend since Pitchfork placed the band in their Best Live Shows of 2005 list. They are hailed as the founders of the wizard rock, a sub-genre of music boasting nearly 1000 bands playing songs about the Harry Potter books. And best of all they'll be Rocking & Rowling at M.A.G.I.Con again this year!
  • Banish Misfortune

    Banish Misfortune

Isolt Sayre, founder of Ilvermorny, was born in the valley of Coomloughra, County Kerry, in Ireland. So, it is only fitting that Banish Misfortune opens the music for M.A.G.I.Con 2018 with a high energy selection of traditional jigs, reels, polkas, hornpipes, waltzes, slides and airs! The first of four bands for M.A.G.I.Con 2018, Banish Misfortune has six all-star musicians playing fiddles, concertina, flute, accordion, mandolin and guitar. If a spell were cast using music instead of words, it might sound like Banish Misfortune!
  • Lauren Fairweather

    Lauren Fairweather

Lauren Fairweather is a Rhode Island-based YouTube content creator, singer-songwriter, crafter, and Hufflepuff who makes cute things inspired by the stories she loves. Over the last decade, Lauren has written original acoustic guitar music about The Prince's Tale, Luna Lovegood, Moaning Myrtle, and a variety of YA novels. However, she is possibly best known for her songs about being part of the Harry Potter fandom and for the emotional audience response that results from her live performances. Lauren will be casting her musical magic at M.A.G.I.Con 2018!
  • The Whomping Willows

    The Whomping Willows

The Whomping Willows is a botanical wizard rock band from Providence, Rhode Island. Named the Greatest Wizard Rock Band of All Time by the (perhaps biased) Ents of Fangorn Forest, the band has played 700 shows across the United States, Canada, and Europe since 2005. Live at M.A.G.I.Con 2018!

Take a stroll around the gentle Glen Meadow Loop Trail. It's only 1.7 miles and will take you by some interesting photo opportunities. To avoid being whomped, please don't get too close to the willows! There are several trails to the summit of Mount Greylock, however it is strenuous and takes most people the best part of a day to make the round trip. A great thing to do on another day.
