Adams is... Fall Foliage
It's a Columbus Day Weekend tradition! Held during the peak of the Fall Foliage season, RambleFest is another two-part event in Adams.
Sunday October 11 - RambleFest Party
Held outdoors at the Adams Visitors Center at 3 Hoosac Street, admission is free to an afternoon of music and fun in celebration of fall in the Berkshires. The details change every year, but you can count on at least two musical acts, vendors featuring local craft beer, great food, produce and merchandise. Other popular activities usually include cooking demonstrations from local chefs, horse-drawn trolley tours of historic Adams, a toasty campfire, pumpkin decorating for the kids. Leashed pets are welcome, so it's fun for the whole family!
Monday October 12 - The Greylock Ramble
The Adams Events Committee holds an annual hike to the top of Mount Greylock every Columbus Day. Thousands of people make the trek to the highest spot in Massachusetts. Free shuttles take hikers from downtown Adams to and from the base of the Cheshire Harbor Trail from 8 am to 4 pm. The trail is the gentlest path to the summit, but it is 6.6 miles, moderately strenuous and takes four to five hours. There are refreshments and souvenirs available for purchase at the top, but the hike itself and the spectacular views are free!
