Current Initiatives

Greylock Glen

Greylock Glen is a 1,060 acre parcel in Adams at the base of Mount Greylock. The Town of Adams has been designated by the state as the developer of 56 acres of the parcel. Working with the Massachusetts Audubon Society, the Appalachian Mountain Club, the MASS MoCA , and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts as project “collaborators,” the town has plans to develop the site. Plans include camp sites and cabin camping, lodge and conference center, an outdoor recreation center with environmental studies, cafe, outdoor recreation gear sales and rentals, as well as an amphitheater and environmental art garden. A significant trail expansion and improvement project is well underway by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. These trails already provide excellent opportunities for Nordic skiing, backcountry skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, running and gentle walks in a spectacular setting. Park Street

Park Street Improvements

Building on past projects, such as the installation of period lighting fixtures to beautify and dress up Adams’ main business street, the current streetscape project includes features designed to slow down through-traffic to improve safety, while enhancing the visual appeal of Park Street. Wider and more visible crosswalks, a bike path and sidewalk improvements are designed to make a leisurely stroll through our attractive and historic downtown appealing to townspeople and visitors alike. As of 2019, this project is largely completed.
